Although the uniforms were stylish, Ronald D. Moore’s clothing Battlestar Galactic reboot is not a series that is largely remembered for its sci-fi fashion. There was one major exception, however: the tight red dress worn by the sultry Cylon known only as Six. She was played to perfection by Tricia Helfer, who recently wore the red dress to celebrate the ultimate fan project: Barry Armstrong’s life-size replica of the Viper fighter flown in the series by pilots such as Starbuck.

Armstrong used his Facebook page, Baz Builds, to provide ongoing updates on his Viper project. This is more than just a static replica, although that alone would be incredibly impressive. His Viper, however, has lights, sounds, and moving parts, and through a series of amusing coincidences (or maybe it’s the will of the Lords of Kobol?), he ended up receiving a video from Tricia Helfer, with the red symbol. dress that has engraved in the spirit of Battlestar Galactic fans around the world.

Naturally, Barry Armstrong has amassed quite a bit on his Facebook page… as of this writing, around 10,400 people follow him, allowing them to get updates on the project and take part in in-depth discussions cheesy. Armstrong is an Australian Army veteran, and on Dec. 21 his page received a message from Mitchell Bell, a marine who had a “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon”-style connection to Galacticthe hottest star. He wrote about how his “good sailor brother, Freddie Joe Farnsworth, worked with Tricia Helfer”, and this veteran comrade managed to put Bell in contact with Helfer.
To hear Bell tell it, the actor “was blown away by your passion for details” on this breathtaking project, and that was enough for him to shoot his shot. He “humbly requested a shout out” for Baz, which resulted in the video she posted on Instagram. Tricia Helfer said a “Merry Christmas to a friend of a friend,” referencing her Viper project before entering the frame wearing her iconic red dress.

If you only know the actress for her serious and intimidating role as a villain in Battlestar Galacticyou might be surprised at how adorably silly the video is. When she first enters the frame, she emits a meow similar to his own. science fiction sound effect. Then, in a higher pitched voice, she recounts exactly what she’s doing on screen: “Number six in front of the Christmas tree!” »
After Tricia Helfer acted all nice and silly in her legendary red dress, she modestly stated that she was “trying to have fun” and then referred to Baz by name. Specifically, she expressed her hope that “Baz enjoyed his shout of Merry Christmas from Mitch.” As for the rest of the fandom, they enjoyed the video for other reasons, with fans on Instagram and beyond mostly commenting on how gorgeous Helfer always looks and how well she always pulls off that spicy little dress.
On the surface, it’s easy to dismiss all of this as nothing more than eye candy. After all, seeing both a life-size replica of Viper and Tricia Helfer in the red dress is a very sweet Christmas treat for all of us. But this whole series of events is very edifying for several other reasons, notably the fact that it confirms the robustness of the Battlestar Galactic the fandom still is. Peacock’s planned reboot may be deader than Starbuck, but it’s great to know there’s still so much passion for the 2003 series that helped make Tricia Helfer famous.

Speaking of this actress, it’s impossible to see all of this without realizing what a graceful and elegant performer she is. Tricia Helfer didn’t need to respond at all, let alone make all of our heads explode while dusting off her red dress. More than two decades after that of Ronald D. Moore Battlestar Galactic During the premiere, Helfer proved that she still has incredible respect for the passionate fans who helped put the series on the map.
The only downside to all of this is that Barry Armstrong makes us question our lazy vacations. It feels like we’ve done nothing more than get drunk and catch up on the DVR, and this man is out here building life-size replicas that would put most prop makers to shame Hollywood. Now, however, we might have the greatest motivation of all to do something meaningful in our lives: knowing that, if it’s cool enough, Tricia Helfer might record a sexy video just for us.
So we all say. Or, in the spirit of the season, ho, ho, ho, we all say.
