Rapper frozen spice faced a wave of backlash after arriving nearly 30 minutes late to her highly anticipated New Year’s Eve show at the Wildlands Festival in Queensland, Australia.
The headline-grabbing “Barbie World” singer was scheduled to perform at the Brisbane Showgrounds on Tuesday night.
However, Ice Spice fans were left frustrated when the rapper arrived 25 minutes late for her 30-minute set.

Ice Spice arrives late for her performance

When Ice Spice finally took the stage, things only got worse. Barely five minutes into his performance, his microphone was cut off by event organizers due to the impending 12:30 a.m. curfew. Although she appeared to continue performing, her voice could not be heard as the stage was being cleared to make way for the next act.
As boos echoed through the crowd, the “Deli” artist was seen pacing around the stage before giving a peace sign and walking out without addressing the audience.
Disappointed fans, some of whom had traveled up to six hours and spent more than $350 per ticket, took to social media to express their anger.

Video footage of the brief and chaotic performance quickly went viral, with many questioning the festival’s lack of professionalism and time management.
“Being late is just unprofessional. In the UK we have a music curfew, so if someone crashes the mic it’s just muted. I’ve never seen a artist here being late because we just don’t allow it,” one person said in the comments section.
“Let’s respect everyone’s time and money,” said another.
“I love that she looks like she wants to cry,” expressed a third.

Venue issues statement

In response to the negative reaction, Wildlands Festival the organizers released a statement on Instagram regarding the situation:
“We understand that the late arrival of Ice Spice has caused some disappointment. Managing a busy festival means we have to be extremely firm with the set times. We had a strict curfew of 12:30 p.m. and we needed to ensure that the final band took the stage on time, so everyone could enjoy the countdown to New Year’s Eve.
“She is disrespectful, so good at Wildlands,” one user said after hearing the venue’s response.
“All venues should do this when artists are late,” said another.
“The fact that she was unplugged was emblematic,” commented a third.

Spectators speak out

Gold Coast podcaster and music journalist Brenton Larney was in the audience for the brief six-minute performance.
“At 11:01 p.m. – they gave it an extra minute… – they cut the mic and you heard the collective sigh from the crowd,” he said. The Guardian. “They were waiting for a while and they got two songs? So it was a little ridiculous and the way she walked away was really disrespectful. She was laughing, they tried to give her flowers for her birthday and she just ignored them.”
He noted that Ice Spice appeared sober and gave the impression that “she didn’t want to be there.”
“It was really disrespectful to see, especially with all the cancellations and everything we’ve had in the Australian music scene,” he said. “That didn’t help.”

Fans react to Ice Spice’s attitude

Mia Sims, a 20-year-old dance instructor from the Gold Coast, shared that she and many others arrived 30 minutes early to secure a good spot in the mosh pit before Ice Spice’s planned performance . As a result, fans were squeezed together for almost an hour in total, all for what turned out to be an extremely brief set.
“And she came out and played two songs — and they weren’t even two of her most popular songs,” Sims said. “It seemed a bit like a joke, like she really didn’t care and more importantly, like she hadn’t posted anything on her social media or apologized. So I couldn’t imagine being one of his biggest fans and having this happen. I would be pretty devastated.
