Rachel Lindsay Breaks Silence After Finalizing Bryan Abasolo Divorce

Rachel Lindsay broke her silence days after finalizing her divorce from Bryan Abasolo.

“I’m divorced. Thank you, God,” Lindsay, 39, said during the Friday, January 10, episode. his podcast “Higher Education”. “Give me some music of freedom. A little music of freedom.

After joking around for a minute, Lindsay got serious as she explained to the co-host From Lathan that it’s “a very strange feeling” to actually be divorced.

“From the moment he finally left the house, after being here for seven months post-separation, I felt divorced,” she continued. “I’ll be honest, there’s a lot I want to say.”

Lindsay noted that “all along” she wanted to share her side of the story — but not yet.

“I haven’t spoken, but I will and I’m just figuring it all out,” she continued. “There [are] so many things I want to talk about.

Elsewhere in the episode, Lindsay revealed what “bothered” her most about the way Abasolo was acting.

“On his part, it was said that certain things played into certain stereotypes that were really hurtful or bothered me. … Saying things that particularly play into the stereotype that I’m an angry black woman,” she said, claiming that “a narrative” unfolded in which she “placed a career” on the relationship and children.

“These things are categorically false,” Lindsay said. “To see people run with it because it’s the lowest hanging fruit and it fits a certain stereotype, it was really hurtful.”

Lindsay and Abasolo, 44, met and got engaged on season 13 of The bachelorette, broadcast in 2017. It filed for divorce of Lindsay in January 2024 after more than four years of marriage. After a complicated back-and-forth, which included details about their finances and the couple’s continued living together, their divorce was finalized Tuesday, January 7. (They did not have a prenuptial agreement.)

We confirmed in July 2024 that Lindsay had been ordered to pay Taxes $13,257 per month in temporary spousal support as well as $20,000 in attorney fees and forensic expert costs. Lindsay didn’t address any details of their split during Friday’s podcast episode, but said that at some point she had to become “the most important person” in their divorce.

“When someone fights you in this way and is ready to die on every hill and is not willing to compromise at all for any reason – and [I’ll] talk about it later,” she said. “At some point you have to let go, just be the bigger person, and prioritize what’s most important to you. »

Lindsay explained that she got to the point where she was “trying to move on” and “had to make concessions that I didn’t necessarily want to make.”

“My peace of mind is priceless at the end of the day, and I really want to start rebuilding and I want to move forward,” she added. “I’m able to do it now. And it feels really, really good.

She concluded that she “wouldn’t get married again without a prenup,” adding, “It’s changed my perspective on everything. I don’t even know if I would get married again. I can’t even understand that.
