A British stepfather will spend more than two decades behind bars for the death of his one-year steps. Christopher Stockton initially said that Charlie Roberts had smothered on a cookie, but an investigation then closed this story. According to a CPS press release, Charlie died on January 13, 2024, when he was 22 months old. Less than 20 minutes after the mother of the toddler left their house the day before, her stepfather sounded emergency services. CPS reports that Paula was heading for work, while Durham ConstabularyY, local police said they had been an appointment of the optician.

Christopher Stockton would have told staff that Charlie Roberts had stopped breathing while playing in a toy tunnel in the living room. In addition, he said that the boy had become “lifeless and flexible” and admitted that the boy had eaten a cookie earlier. He essentially suggested that it could have smothered the boy. However, when paramedical paramedics checked Charlie, they found nothing blocking his airways. Instead, they found that the 22 -month -old child had had a “head trauma” and transported him by ambulance to the royal infirmary of Victoria.
