In Buffy The Vampire SlayerThe trio is among the most hated bad guys, especially after one of their members (Warren) ended up accidentally killing the girlfriend of Willow Tara. Most fans are now retrospectively consider these villains as perfectly emblematic of the sixth problematic and otherwise lower season of the series. However, the trio is actually the Perfect Buffy’s bad guys because they focus on one of the most powerful themes to horror: that unpredictable humans are ultimately much more dangerous than any monster.
The trio

Those who were Buffy Fans of the beginning have often claimed that the trio was poor bad guys because they are not as metaphorical as other emblematic characters. This is a show where the fantastic has always been a mirror for the banal. For example, Angel becoming evil after having sex with Buffy is an intentional metaphor for young men who reveal themselves as trees after lying with their friends. Compared to BuffyThere are many other metaphors (such as spells representing sex and the master representing the separate father of Buffy), a trio of unhappy Nerds may seem a little boring.
However, these bad guys were secretly a bright Creation of writers of the show because they embody one of the oldest themes of horror. Note that humans are intrinsically more dangerous than the monsters they fight. Zombie movies like Dawn of the dead and shows like The Walking DeadFor example, underline how the unpredictability of humans makes them more dangerous than the foreseeable danger of a zombie. In BuffyThis idea is represented by the fact that vampires are motivated by instinct but that human threats cause chaos beyond Nothing A vamp can do with its black magic.
There are many other examples of humans in Buffy Be more dangerous than the crowd of blood suckers. The main synchronization was an early example of a human enemy who could successfully threaten our characters during the hours of clarity, and the accessible affability of Caleb allowed him to kill many victims (including the council of observers!) Who could have repelled another insane monster. And while the two have been bought, Willow and Faith prove that humans who kiss their interior dark side can cause more damage than even the smartest vamps.
Big bad

So what’s it Buffy The lesson in the history of the bad guys has to do with the reasons why the trio is such great bad guys? On the one hand, Warren fits directly into the aforementioned human mold. He kept the killer on his toes for almost all season 6 using a series of programs powered by magic and technology. How many vampires or werewolves do you think would have been able to trap (even temporarily) our favorite killer in a Marmot day temporal loop?
For another thing, BuffyThe Evil trio integrates perfectly with a season which, for better or for worse, has launched difficulties increasingly relatable to our title hero. Of course, the Slayer still fought fantastic monsters from week to week, but these guys were a cake compared to challenges like paying the mortgage, playing Mandal Mandal and abandoning his toxic boyfriend. In a season when the banal was transformed into the monstrous, a pitiful human villain like Warren integrates perfectly.
Finally, BuffyThe trio was a perfect reflection of a major theme of season 6: the dangers of magic. The same season that showed that Willow was addicted to dark powers also showed the dangers of hateful incels accessing their own magic capacities. Of course, season 7 has traveled this controversial scenario (magic was suddenly no longer addictive), but at the time, the trio served as a reflections of this story when they distract us from the growing threat of Willow .

No one can deny that Warren accidentally shooting Tara is a moment of tear, but this horrible scene brings us back to the theme always present than humans are more dangerous than monsters. You can invoke a number of magic districts to protect against things that go overnight, but no one can prevent Warren from presenting himself with a firearm and accidentally killing a powerful witch. The lesson is clear: monstrosity in men is something that Buffy can never kill, and it is something that everyone in Sunnydale And Everyone looks must be careful.
If it sounds dark, well … What did you expect from season 6?
