That’s it. After six years and six seasons (The last one was divided into three parts), “Cobra Kai” has finally arrived at its last episodes. Although individual, the three parts of season 6 felt slow and incomplete, together, they make one of the best seasons of the show, especially because part 3 has some of the best episodes in the whole series. (In other words, Netflix probably should not have divided them all like that.)
“Cobra Kai” has traveled a long way. He has survived skepticism and the loss of his original release platform to become one of the best shows of recent years, and one of the best inherited suites, period. It is really surprising that this show – which started as a more anchored and dramatic version of a joke of “How I Met Your Mother” – would end up making a very effective restart of “The Karate Kid” with a new generation of enthusiasts of karate, but also used to follow the first three films “Karate Kid”. Over the past six years, we have seen Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) arguing and bickering like an old married couple before finally becoming good friends. They even associated themselves with other antagonists, Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) and Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan), to fight John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith).
“Cobra Kai” is a show that has always understood how and when doing a fans service, looking at nostalgia in order to say something new on beloved characters, and echoing the past in order to explore new Stories. In his last episodes, “Cobra Kai” transforms everything at 11 and offers five hours full of The craziest moments not only in the show, But the franchise in general.
Cobra Kai confronts the past in her last episodes
Part 2 of season 6 stopped after the Sekai Taikai was interrupted by a violent fight that led to an unexpected and tragic death. The new episodes resume shortly after, the tournament being officially canceled and everyone is still in shock from violent events and to have their chance of glory which is taken from them. It is until Terry Silver (of course, who else?) Get his way out to organize the rest of the tournament to play anyway – this time to The familiar location that hosted the 1984 All-Valley tournament.
Not everyone is on board. On the one hand, John Kreese is not interested in having another of his students killed. This is there that the most surprise and the best scenario of the season undoubtedly lies, because we see a radically different Kreese, which is completely shocked by the death of Kwon. The following is the culmination of the themes of all the franchise, that of the relationship between teachers and students, and how the teacher’s faults have an impact on their students. Martin Kove does a spectacular job describing the crisis of the faith of Kreese, reflecting on his past actions and if there is a space for him in this world of karate.
This theme also extends to Daniel and Johnny. The first finally obtains a resolution in the mystery of the season of the past of Miyagi, which was and remains disappointing. Of course, it is interesting that the show says that Miyagi was not a saint, and to see Daniel reconcile with the fact that his mentor was a defective man, but making it a mystery box throughout the season , the resolution came through so disappointing.
The latest episodes of Cobra Kai Delive
If part 3 of season 6 of “Cobra Kai” shows something clear, it is because this show has always been the journey of Johnny Lawrence by William Zabka. Zabka obtains the big spotlights these last five episodes, doing a better career work while Johnny confronts his demons, the damage that Kreese caused him and his insecurity, while recognizing his achievements and how far he came.
“Cobra Kai” has always been good at knowing how to arm the nostalgia in the right way, and the last episodes are looking back so that you can wait forward. There are a lot of references, tributes, direct reminders and outright recreation of moments of the very first “Kid Karate” in these episodes, and they never have the impression that the writers nodded to the public.
Instead, the references are there to say something about the past and the present, to show the progress of the characters. Without spoiling any surprises, let’s just say that the last episodes of “Cobra Kai” are the dreams of a fan, and the highlight of six years of winning the right reminders at the right time. When the time of truth came for this show, he proved that it was the best.
