Brave New World Addresses The Biggest MCU Loose Ends

This message contains major spoilers For “Captain America: Brave New World”.

The Marvel cinematographic universe has become strong for almost 17 years now, going back to “Iron Man” in 2008. With the release of “Captain America: Brave New World” in theaters, we arrive on 40 films released during this period, without Talk about all the TV shows on Disney +. While Kevin Feige and Co. At Marvel Studios has done impressive work by weaving an interconnected story through all these media over the years, some sons have been suspended. “Brave New World” tries to count with fairly large.

“Eternals” of 2021 was a big swing for Marvel, who ultimately did not connect with the public as the studio hoped. Whether it’s like that, “Eternals” ended with a giant celestial foreigner named Tiamut half emerged in the ocean. This had to go for some time. Although an unexpected place to face with such a massive, cosmic and during, “brave new world” thread finally pulls this thread, while using the remaining plots of another improbable source – namely “The Incredible Hulk “from 2008 – to simply do that.

The entry of director Julius Onah in the MCU sees Sam Wilson by Anthony Mackie taking Captain America’s coat. After meeting the newly elected American president Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), Sam’s friend Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly), apparently tried to assassinate the army that has become a politician. Sam joins forces with Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez) to try to erase Isaiah and discover the truth behind a harmful world plot. Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson) turns out to be pulled the strings while Ross tries to bring together a treaty to divide all the Adamantium which was discovered on Celestial Island.

This is Sam Wilson’s first solo film as a new Captain America from the MCU, taking over from Steve Rogers by Chris Evans, who retired after “Avengers: Endgame”. This is already a bet given that Sam has officially taken over in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, a Disney +series, as opposed to a film. At the same time, Marvel has decided to remove everything from a villain “The Incredible Hulk”, a large disappointment at the 17-year-old box office. It is a daring decision.

Eternals is finally discussed by Captain America: Brave New World … in a way

To what extent is this audacity effective? This is another question entirely. Concentrating first on the “Eternals” of all this, we had nine MCU films (if you count “Werewolf by Night” as a film) and several television shows since and none of them has addressed the ‘Existence of Tiamut. It is a pushing mass in the Indian Ocean which was at the center of a world event. Onah and the writers of “Captain America: Brave New World” used it as a stolen door to bring Adamantium, alias The metal used to make Wolverine clawsin the MCU. So, it’s a bit of teeing for “X-Men”.

The use of Tiamut as a means of creating an international frenzy on a precious resource is, on the surface, an unexpected and intelligent way of managing the remains of “extractors”. The problem is that the events of the ambitious film by Chloé Zhao are never really discussed in “Brave New World”, and neither do the characters. Ross just mentions Tiamut and makes very vague and fast references to the appearance of Tiamut. No one mentions the ancient heroes who thwarted the emergence of the celestial, and no one mentions the appearance of Arishem on the earth at the end of the film. It certainly looks like something that was worth raising.

So yes, on the one hand, “Brave New World” finally approached the largest of all the big elephants in the room. On the other hand, he didn’t really do much to deal with everything that remained during the “Eternals”. Admittedly, the hanging sons of this film are not the responsibility of this film, it is not unreasonable to wait perhaps a little more connective tissue. In this way, Tiamut’s return could be considered a little disappointed, especially for those who loved Zhao’s film and these characters.

There is practically no chance that “Eternals 2” will happenSo unless other films support the cliffhangers of the first film, they will be left indefinitely suspended. Captain America by Sam Wilson, a man without superpowers in the middle of a political thriller, did his best to collect some of these cosmic pieces.

Captain America: Brave New World depends entirely on the incredible Hulk

Even more unexpected, no doubt, is the fact that “Captain America: Brave New World” the most roots on the events of “The Incredible Hulk” – which, until the exit of “The Marvels” in 2023, was the least profitable film in the history of the MCU. Even if we reserve a moment that “Incredible Hulk” was released in 2008, this does not exactly make a main candidate for the fuel of the plot at this stage.

And yet, Samuel Sterns by Tim Blake Nelson (alias the leader) turns out to be the real bad guy of “Brave New World” because he seeks to take revenge on Ross for having kept him in captivity during all these years. For those who do not remember, Sterns has been exposed directly to a gamma radiation which distorted his brain, which was tackled very briefly in “incredible hulk”. The Ross character arch is very linked to the events of this film, even if we saw it elsewhere in the MCU, played by the late William Hurt in films like “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War . “Up to the fractured relationship of Ross with Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), this version of Ross traces a lot of its DNA in Mistes de Marvel 2008.

It is rather impressive how “Brave New World” looks at “Incredible Hulk”, rather than simply grazing against it as the points of the intrigue of “Eternals”. Again, to what extent it is effective is another question entirely. Is the chef a good villain? Revisiting this film and these characters through the objective of a film “Captain America” makes sense? It is largely a question of personal taste but Reactions to “Brave New World” suggest that it is simply “good” and not big.

At this point, the McU has left many major intrigue kits that have not yet been resolvedLike the introduction of Starfox into “Eternals” or the Kangs Council in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”. Earlier than late, while the multifiverse saga ends, Marvel Studios must start to approach some of these sons. For better or for worse, this film took part of this responsibility and tried to check some of these boxes.

“Captain America: Brave New World” is now in theaters.
