Imagine a world where books are considered to be compilations of graffiti full of unclean thoughts which must be eliminated for the best good of humanity. Fahrenheit 451, The 2018 film based on the classic novel by Ray Bradbury of 1953 of the same name, tries to unpack the implications of a future in which the proletariat has no reference point with regard to the history of the world before the second American civil war did not mark the start of the end of intellectual prosecution.
Paint a dark image of a society without knowledge, Fahrenheit 451 is a film that is worth watching for its futuristic production values and its solid advance acting of Michael B. Jordan, Michael Shannon and Sofia Boutella, but blurring her own message have total control over the media they are authorized to consume.
A future without knowledge
Fahrenheit 451As the film and the new titles suggest, is the temperature in which the paper ignites in flames and burns in a bunch of smoking ash. At the center of the film conflict, Guy Montag (Michael B. Jordan) Operates as a firefighter, not to turn off the flames, but to find and incinerate all the literature that his neighborhood finds in the aim of censorship. Belonging to the latest generation linked to pre-war times, guys and any other person who remembers the life of the Second American Civil War, must take drops for the eyes every day to mitigate their memories so that ‘They can focus on the task at hand.
Working in close collaboration with Captain John Beatty (Michael Shannon), who took him under his wing after the death of his father, Guy begins to remember his child’s time when the books were not prohibited, and undress after a raid in which a treasure of art and of literature is on fire with the woman who sacrificed her life in a heroic attempt to protect her.
The 9 and the eels

In addition, the character of Guy in the film has really nothing to lose, because he has no family to fear and focuses mainly on his work. In the novel, on the other hand, Guy’s relationship with his wife, Mildred, makes a story that has more substance because his internal conflict has a direct effect on his family dynamic which is never addressed in the film.
Despite its shortcomings as a film adaptation, Fahrenheit 451, Given in the void without considering its source material, poses a certain number of stimulating questions about the overcoming of the government, the censorship and the will of the human mind to persevere in the face of tyranny and oppression that deserves your attention, this which makes it a solid watch. But if you are the type to always say that “the book was better”, you may not appreciate some of the creative freedoms that have been taken in order to exhibit a new generation at Bradbury’s work.
