The Star Trek Finale Producers Surprisingly Hated

Star Trek has usually had good season finals. In fact, apart from The next generation“Shades of Gray” (which was a shabby clip episode), the fans were quite satisfied with how the seasons ended. This is why we were so surprised to discover that one of the best episodes at the end of the season of the franchise was the one that fans loved but the creators hated. This episode is “learning curve”, season 1 Traveler Final where Tuvok must lead to unruly starfleet types and Neelix accidentally infects the ship with cheese.

Why this star Trek final is hated

Admittedly, the cheese sub -intrigue of this star Trek final is the one that some fans hated (although he was laughed later by hilariously by Lower bridges), but the episode as a whole was generally well received. He was also watched by a large number of fans. “Learning Curve” was the most watched episode in the first race in the whole series. Unfortunately, matching producers and writers were not satisfied with the way this episode ended Traveleris the first season.

One of the reasons why the episode left a bad taste in the creators’ mouth is that they never wanted this episode to be the end of season 1. Originally, four other episodes were Filmed for the season, but they were selected for season 2.. The writers and producers hoped to end on an episode with a little emotional fruit (something more similar to “the best of the two worlds” or “descent”) and has rather Finished season 1 with an episode of bottle that had an episode of completely crazy undercntrigue cheese.

Star Trek: To travel The editor -in -chief and future executive producer Ken Biller explained in more detail why this episode was hated among creative staff. “We finished in a trivial episode where Tuvok was the drilling instructor,” he said. Billerrs then noted how the episode “was not a cliffhanger” and “was not a seasonal season”. The episode “had no bang” and pretended to be this new new Star Trek show “In a way, he disappeared.”

In the meantime, Star trek: travel Producer Brannon Braga echoes Biller’s reflections on the reasons why this final was hated among the staff. “I am somewhat disturbed that it is our last episode because it is a gentle episode,” he said. “He had no big pieces of action or the grandiose themes that we love our finals.”

This is an important point to emphasize: “learning the curve” is not a bad episode … In fact, it’s an hour of very solid entertainment. But it is a bottle show (TV Speak for an episode made on cheap) which does not have the flash that fans expected the previous finals. For example, “The Drumhead” by TNG and “The Duet” by DS9 are both killer Episodes of bottles, but they would probably have made strange season finals.

It is fundamentally where Star trek: travel Showrunner Michael Piller landed on the “learning curve”. Instead of saying that it is an episode that he hated, Pillar simply noted “it may not be a final of the season, but it’s a good solid show.” Braga accepted, noting that it was a “good idea for an episode” even if his episode on a small scale, nature, made a bad final.

This Star trek: travel The final was more hated as a season than an episode, but it is fair to say that the writers and the producers learned their lesson from its mistakes. TravelerThe second season ended with the fly the whole ship, the third season ended with a difficult alliance with the Borg, and so on. In other words, the future finals were generally more full of action and an epic scope, giving fans more of what they want from their favorite science fiction Franchise and less … Neelix cheese.
