The Monkey Ending Is Way Darker Than Stephen King’s Original Short Story

This message contains spoilers For “the monkey”.

Despite Stephen King’s reputation to have bad endingsThere are conclusions in his beloved works that have fallen into history, such as the famous end of “Carrie”, or the last moving moments of “Rita Hayworth and the redemption of Shawshank”, which are largely recreated in their respective cinematographic adaptations. But certain cinematographic adaptations of King work boldly diverge from source equipment.

The famous filmmaker Stanley Kubrick has decided to remove the end of “The Shining”, “ Forcing Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) to face an ice cream trial instead of fire, freeing to death in a hedge labyrinth rather than exploding the hotel as originally wrote. Now, years later, the director of “Longlegs” Osgood Perkins also dared to move away from the King road with his adaptation of the news of 1980 “The monkey.” What is surprising is that, in a way, the filmmaker spoke of a more scary highlight enveloped in ambiguity and smoke which could even exceed the original.

At the end of the crazy photo of Perkins, which consists in wiping people in a dark and dark way, Hal (Theo James) and his son Petey (Colin O’Brien) go down the highway after the death of Bill (also Theo James) without any track in sight. All they have is a ribbon of hope and a monkey on the rear seat to manage while the world apparently begins to collapse all around them. The news, although just as ambiguous, is much less gloomy than what we find ourselves. There are also no additional details of Bill, which does not even exist in the original history of a monkey on unleashing.

The news of the monkey leaves readers to fish responses

In the news, just like the film, there is a guy called Hal who has his trip father and his interrupted by the return of a cursed family inheritance. Play cymbals instead of the battery (because Disney wouldn’t want that)The monkey afflicts both, Hal having no choice but to put the gift of hell with the intention of throwing it in a lake. By putting on a boat, Hal fights with the elements to try to get rid of the monkey, going down almost with the toy itself, whose cymbals can still be heard while it flows underwater. Everything is fine that ends well, right? Well, people terribly sorry, but is it a reading of Stephen King, do you remember?

An extract from newspapers reveals that since the incident, large amounts of fish have started to revive the surface, suggesting that the monkey still plays solo and that local fauna suffers because of this. Although an effective end, it is quite docile in relation to The bizarre and apocalyptic finish that we obtain with the film by PerkinsIt is therefore understandable that the director dared to take things in a different direction. After seeing someone hardened in the opening of the film and a version of Theo James loses his head in the final, a lake full of fish may not have reached the place. Well, not compared to an invited appearance of the literal rider of death and a bus from the high school full of beheaded cheerlers, at least.
