If you are one of those people who think Keanu Reeves cannot hurt, then you probably haven’t seen Replicas-One of the most involuntarily hilarious science fiction films that even John Wick himself could not save with some misfortune. With an intrigue that has more holes than this old pair of socks that you refuse to drop, Replicas is the most negligent science fiction thriller I have never met, which is a shame because it has so much potential to be a comedy of errors of the highest caliber if it did not try so strong to play straight.

For me, this film is ReplicasAnd you can broadcast the title on Tubi if you want to see for yourself what I mean.
A breakthrough that falls quickly
Keanu Reeves represents William Foster in ReplicasAnd it is a kind of crazy scientist who devoted his life to finding a way to transfer human consciousness to Android bodies. Using the same type of transparent floating touch screen technology that Tony Stark uses in the MCUWilliam is blocked with his latest failed prototype, subject 345. Thinking that he is close to a breakthrough, William becomes obsessed with the troubleshooting of the prototype that instinctively self-designed while wake up, but his employer, the Bionyne Corporation, is ready to scratch the entire project because “Colossal and Repeded Hunger Tends To Spook Gardoldlers” according to his Colleague, Ed Whittle (Thomas Tends).
Knowing that the time spent at work makes his life collapse on the inner front, William takes the weekend to take his wife, Mona (Alice Eve), and her three children, Sophie (Emily Alyn Lind), Matt (Emjay Anthony) and Zoe (Aria Leabu) during an essential navigation trip.
As you can imagine, the boat trip is terribly bad in Replicas Because William’s family is killed in a car accident before you can get laid.
Alone with his clones
At first, William is devastated when his family is killed ReplicasBut he quickly has a moment of clarity (read: madness) when he thinks of the failures of the subject 345, and suddenly has access to four fresh bodies which require resusciation.
And how does William decide to see if he can successfully transform his family of corpses into functional replicas, are you asking? He steals all his extremely expensive and heavy equipment in Bionyne. Now, operating out of his basement, William Jerry-Rigs Three cloning pods with car batteries only to remember that he has four members of the dead family he needs to resuscitate. Taking out the names of a hat, William, whose moral and ethical compass deteriorates when he becomes more and more obsessed with his work, decides that Zoe has drawn the short metaphorical straw and will be left to perish.
Succeeding in his restoration of the rest of his family, William decides to “eternal Sunshine” his replicas of Mona, Sophie and Matt so that they have no memories of Zoé by regaining consciousness. Meanwhile, everyone at Bionyne is sitting there, turning their thumbs, wondering where the devil William went, because he did not presented himself physically to work for weeks and they really need to know where he is with the whole of humanity that infuses.
Should have been a comedy
Replicas Sufficiently suffer from playing straight, and all the time I watched it, I was shouting on television to be funny. All the elements for a comedy of quality errors are just below the surface, but they are suffocated by seriousness.
The alarming lack of William’s scruples to play God with his dead family would have completely landed if his character was eccentric like the doc of Christopher Lloyd Return to the future Franchise or Rick Sanchez of Rick and Morty.
The idea of a crazy scientist with little or no respect for the moral implications of what he is trying to accomplish while the shareholders beat his door when he tries to push his replicas in the mantle closet so that no one knows what he does, but immediately blowing his cover because he has not slept for days and did not think that it would have made this catastrophe of a catastrophe of a catastrophe of a catastrophe science fiction Thriller and effective comedy if I had to weigh.
Or even better, he forgets to hide Zoé’s body and must explain to the rest of his family who is the dead little girl lying on the floor of their living room, it is because he forgot to place his downstream on the dump.
Unfortunately, these morbid hypothetical situations that I have just compensated ReplicasAnd we end up with a mess disjointed with a story that does not have or no meaning.
