Do you want Steven Spielberg Magic but with a classified edge R? If necessary, Paul, A hot love letter to all your favorite science fiction adventure classics, maybe everything you need to feel satisfied. A standard road trip wrote written by none other than Shaun of the dead Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, Paul Takes you on a wild trip through the southwest of the United States while our heroes carry an extraterrestrial being to his mother vessel while the federal agents trying to capture him.
Playing like an extended hunting sequence, Paul is punctuated by a feeling of emergency, but not so much emergency that you cannot take advantage of his sense of exaggerated humor and many, a lot of references to the emblematic science fiction Properties that we all grew up looking at.
Looking for the mother vessel
Before meeting Paul (Seth Rogen) for the first time, Graeme Willy (Simon Pegg) and Clive Gollings (Nick Frost) take advantage of their first trip to the United States, where they attend the comic strip in San Diego before embarking on a road trip through the Southwest to visit all the alleged UFO sites that they only read until this moment.

Meanwhile, the special agent Lorenzo Zoil (Jason Bateman), with his two subordinates without any idea and inexperienced but workers, the Haggard agents (Bill Hader) and O’Reilly (Joe Lo Truglio), aim to capture Paul under the instructions of the need for “The Big Guy”, the woman in charge of the whole operation.
Filled with science fiction references
Never afraid of bringing his influences on his sleeve, Paul references to beloved science fiction properties as And the alien (Hey! Reese’s parts! Thank you!), Narrow third type dating. Star Trek, Alienand even Mac and meAmong other things, let us never feel forced because we follow two geeks of the highest order which, of course, connect their current situation to the intellectual properties that inspired their road trip in the first place. And when Paul reveals that he had Steven Spielberg on Speed Dial for decades because he is in fact the creative force behind some of the most emblematic science fiction titles that we have all appreciated do not seem to be a cop because it is logical that a real stranger is used by the entertainment industry to move units.
