Why MTV’s Controversial Skins Adaptation Was Canceled After One Season

The British television series “Skins” succeeded both in its country of origin and abroad, so in 2011, the MTV tried to give this success in the United States with their own adaptation. Almost directly copies the first season of the British version of the character for the character and the Beat-For-Beat, just with a new location, the new “skins” had the potential to be a feeling in the United States. The show had even the original creator of the Bryan Elsley series helping to adapt it, and they threw a brand new group of relative amateurs, perhaps hoping to launch some careers in the minds of its predecessor. (Seriously, the first season of “Skins” has Daniel Kaluuya, Kaya Scodelario, Hannah Murray, and Dev Patel.) Unfortunately, this was not the case, and the program was canceled after a single season – so what happened?

It seems that the United States was simply not ready for something like “Skins”, which is quite funny given the Success of the American adaptation of “shameless” just as racy ,, “ But the grades were weak and the show proved to be too expensive for MTV when the parents of parents’ surveillance began to protest and have advertising withdrawn. In a dream world, MTV could have really unleashed with their version of the soapy drama for adolescents, but the American pearls and trying to recreate the original have almost exactly spent its end.

Skins US was sentenced almost from the start

The two versions of “skins” follow a group of teenagers somewhat troubled in their last two years of high school, exploring difficult subjects such as sexuality, pregnancy, drug use and abuse. The show can be difficult to look at, with its young characters who experience all kinds of trauma, but it seems authentic in some respects to the experience of adolescents because adolescents in real life TO DO Use drugs, have sex and party too hard. Part of what made the show original so brilliant was the young cast of most unknowns (Including a baby devot), because unsurprisingly, it seems more real when adolescents play adolescents, but it upset the parents’ television council, who wanted a federal investigation into the series because they thought it was “infantile pornography”. While the characters engage in mature activities and some actors were under 18 years of age, he is never presented for titillation, just to show how adolescents really live.

Advertisers drew their dissemination advertisements on MTV during the show’s antenna time, including Taco Bell and General Motors, and after a single season with a very modest audience, they decided to withdraw the catch. The criticisms of the time underline the program trying to clean themselves for the American version while copying everything else, in certain episodes, best resembled an sweetened adaptation, then maybe it is for the best that the “skins” MTV crashed and burned. Well, we will always have the British version, which lasted seven seasons and is Like “Euphoria” but better.
