Most pure and hard fans of Nicolas Cage will be the first to admit that our only true God has assumed very questionable roles during the aughts which were largely attributed to the financial problems he encountered behind the scenes. Generic revenge films like Search for justice and stolen all on site but cathartically fun of films like Drive into angerIt seemed that Nicolas Cage simply took on any role that had been offered to him, but these films are always infectiously observable because of the energy he brings to each project even if they were only concerts at the time. In the 2010s, it seemed that Nicolas Cage became more and more a punchline and a meme, but his career saw a resurgence with 2013 Joe.

While narration Joe is a redemption in itself with regard to its full character, we also have the privilege of seeing the greatest actor of all time seeing his own redemption, because it is the film which saw the criticisms qualifying it as yield for Nicolas Cage which had been expected for a long time.

A story about mentorship

Joe, Nicolas Cage

Centered on the Mentor-Mentor relationship between Joe Ransom (Nicolas Cage) and Gary Jones (Tye Sheridan), Joe is a story about the search for friends in improbable places when you’re lucky. Gary is a teenager drifter living with his abusive alcoholic father, Wade (Gary Poulter), and is looking for a job working for the fish society of Joe trees. After being congratulated for his work ethics, Gary obtained a job for Wade, which results in the two immediate layoffs due to the poor attitude of Wade piss.

A fervent believing in the second chances, Joe de Nicolas Cage allows Gary to continue working for him, but the exhorts to hide his money in Wade, who is known to use his pay checks to drink in non -verbal stupor.

As Joe and Gary’s relationship grew, Joe, an ex-Con he himself, becomes the paternal figure that Gary never had, and the two form an inseparable link when Gary helps Joe to find his disappeared dog, faith, after he fled. Having frequent entries with Wade and a violent criminal named Willie Russell (Ronnie Gene Blanvins), Gary is protected and guided by Joe, who, despite his gruff face, wants the best for the troubled boy he took under his wing.

Nicolas Cage in higher form

Joe, Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage, who cannot hurt (fight me on this subject, and I will destroy you) but who still needed a victory on the front of the public perception, surprised the criticism with his representation of Joe because of the complexity of his complex character in this film. Replace your signature exaggerated Delivery with a more measured approach to his game, Nicolas Cage is in great shape because Joe does everything he can to release an unhappy child from a disastrous situation in the sole way he knows. Joe can be tough on the edges, but he always has a heart and believes that you have to give everyone the second chances – even if these second chances could possibly come back to haunt it.

Play straight but with a cynical scowling air, a bottle of bourbon in his hand and a cigarette almost always suspended from his mouth, Nicolas cage Give Joe to life in a way that no other actor can, and it is a shame that this film has seen such a limited version because it is one of these treasures buried in the cage filmography on which many people slept.

But if you are ready to wake up and see a master at work, Joe is currently streaming for free on Tubi.
