The Last Of Us Season 2 Premiere Scene That Took A Whole Day To Shoot

Do not assist in your weekly session if you have not watched “Future Days”, the first in season 2 of “The Last of Us”. The spoilers are in front!

In The second season of “The Last of Us” – The HBO adaptation of the Naughty Dog beloved video game series – Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann present characters who don’t do it appear in the game, including Gail, a therapist living in Jackson’s protected fortress, Wyoming who is played by the winner of Emmy Catherine O’Hara. Gail is not in the games (although her husband Eugene is mentioned by the way, and Based on the fact that he should be played by Joe PantolianoWe will probably see it at some point), so what is its goal in the series?

In the premiere of season 2, “Future Days”, we see the Taciturn Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) going to Gail, only to learn something very Surprise: Joel is looking for a gail treatment while he works through certain mental health problems. According to O’Hara, Mazin and Druckmann gave him a Pascal room as an artists … and have planned a whole day for the Joel therapy session. As O’Hara said Weekly entertainment::

“It was intense. It takes a lot [film] blanket. Craig was simply very clear. He really knows what he does and what he wants to take place. So you go there to someone’s show and you have to give him. I am The ordinate. So I just put in his hands and he guided me, and just gave me sweet but clear notes all day with a sense of humor. Pedro, of course, was really fun to spend the day with then very intense in the end where he defends his life for any reason. It was a bit scary because you want to do a good job to join someone’s big spectacle like that. I wanted to get up on occasion. “”

Catherine O’Hara is a comic heavyweight – and the last of us marks a very different role for her

Anyone who knows the work of Catherine O’hara knows that, to say it lightly, she is not known for her dramatic roles! It is not a blow on O’Hara, a talented actress supernaturally who made her debut on “Second City Television” and increased in importance in the classic comedies of Christopher Guest like “Waiting For Guffman” and “Best in Show”. What I say is that a attenuated character, angry and largely irregular like Gail (although, of course, O’hara perfectly grasps his few funny moments) is a new company for the actress, the last big televised role of which was the beautifully absurd pink moira in the surprise darling Emmy Darling “Schitt’s Creek.

So how did she approach the Gail character? With his usual humor, unsurprisingly. “Imagine what she takes, absorbing all day in this city,” said O’Hara in her weekly interview entertainment. “It’s too much for anyone.” This explains the fact that Joel pays it for the session with weeds (apparently of poor quality). “My boy, you have to survive in one way or another,” joking O’Hara.

As O’hara said, she was pleasantly surprised when Craig Mazin came into contact with her and asked her to play this new character. “It’s always surprising when someone right now gives you a nice gift from a new opportunity,” she thought. “They very carefully let me see scripts. Everything is very secret.”

What’s going on in the scene between Gail and Joel?

The Gail scene in “Future Days” is quite important in that it exposes the fact that Joel, years after the events of the final of season 1, is always haunted by his decision to kill a group of rebellious fireflies – and perhaps prevent a remedy for the cordyceps virus ravaging the world – to save her daughter of substitution Ellie (Bella Ramsey). Although it was obviously not totally From the level with Gail in that she indicates that she does not know why there is such an important corner between him and Ellie, Joel works on serious stuff, and the typically private man turns to a therapist to get help.

We also learn that there is a corner between Gail and Joel, and for a good reason. Gail may not be in the game, but I have already mentioned that her canonical husband Eugene is seen in photos in the game and is discussed by other characters … and in her scene with Joel, we learn that Eugen is dead. Gail, who drinks whiskey early during the day and during his session with Joel, notices that it is her birthday – especially her first birthday without her husband of more than four decades. Gail also reveals something surprising: Joel killed Eugene. Why and how it happened has not yet been revealed, but I hope that we will learn more about Eugene’s death in the hands of Joel when season 2 continues.

“The Last of Us” drops new episodes on Sunday at 9 p.m. HNE on HBO and Max.
