Todric McGeeSecurity for the Missouri State University football team, is dead. He was 21 years old.
“On behalf of the University and all of our department, we want to express our condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Todric,” said MSU athletics director, Patrick Ransdellsaid in a Saturday, April 19, statement. “This tragedy has shaken our football program at the heart, and we want them to know that we are here to support them in all possible ways at this extremely difficult moment.”
According to the university statement, McGee died earlier on Saturday after suffering injuries at his home. He was taken to a local hospital late on Friday April 18 and suffered an emergency operation. More details, including a cause of death, have not yet been revealed.
McGee was a fifth year senior in Msu and member of the Bears football team. It was the departure safety of the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
“Our football family is in shock and in mourning to the loss of Todric”, football coach Ryan Beard said on Saturday in a separate declaration. “We ask everyone to respect the intimacy of their family and our most elegant football team right now while we are starting the healing process. Join us to pray for Todric and the people who loved him. ”

A representative of the Springfield police later declared that Springfield News-Leader Friday, that the officers responded to a wellness check in McGee. The athlete was reportedly found with a “accidental shot injury”. An investigation into McGee’s death is underway.
Before attending MSU, McGee played football for the Wichita Northwest High School team.

“Todric was an incredible human being with the ability to turn on any room in which he entered! MSU’s offensive coach Dominic Petrino also spoke After the death of McGee.
“I loved going against Todric every day in practice,” wrote Petrino via X. “He always went and came with me on the routes that I would run on him. I will really miss. So big child !! so heartbreaking !!”
