Soulja Boy calls on Elon Musk to save TikTok

On Thursday, December 12, Soulja Boy came on board X (formerly Twitter) with a pitch for Elon Musk. The “Crank Dat” rapper suggested that the Tesla founder step in to save TikTok because it could eventually be banned in the United States.

“Yo @elonmusk what do you think about buying TikTok? Or will running X and this platform be too much? Soulja wrote.

Elon Musk has not yet responded to Soulja’s proposal, but his request sparked some reactions from social media users.

Instagram user @_tihaniboss wrote, Hey Soulja, why aren’t you the first rapper to buy TikTok 😭”

The latest decision on TikTok and what’s next?

According to TSR, the US Court of Appeals in Washington has halted TikTok’s attempt to overturn a law targeting its China-based parent company, ByteDance. The law requires TikTok to cut ties with ByteDance or face a U.S. ban by mid-January. TikTok argued that the rule destroyed its First Amendment rights, but the court didn’t accept it. Now, the video app and ByteDance plan to take their fight to the Supreme Court, although it’s unclear whether the case will make it there. Meanwhile, TikTok spokesperson Michael Hughes remains hopeful, saying the app will thrive despite the loss.

“The Supreme Court has an established history of protecting Americans’ right to free speech, and we hope it will do just that on this important constitutional issue.” Unfortunately, the TikTok ban was crafted and imposed based on inaccurate, false and hypothetical information, resulting in outright censorship of the American people,” Hughes said in a statement.
