’90 Day Fiance’ Star David Murphey Dies After Battle With Cancer
David Murphya former star of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days died on December 11, 2024, at the age of 66, from liver cancer.
His family announced his death via their Instagram account, saying:
“We are deeply saddened to announce that David Murphey, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away at his home on December 11, 2024, after experiencing health issues over the past several years. He was 66 years old. »
David Murphy was a veteran, small business owner and software engineer. He had recently retired from the Clark County Treasurer’s Office in Nevada, having also worked for H&R Block and IGT.
Diagnosed with liver cancer a year ago, Murphy underwent 13 surgeries and was scheduled to undergo another before his death. In addition to liver cancer, he faced other health issues, including problems with his gallbladder, pancreas and kidneys.
David Murphy rose to fame in season 4 of the TLC reality series 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Dayswhere he pursued a relationship with Lana, a woman he met on a Ukrainian dating site. He proposed to her during the show, but the couple eventually broke up.
Beyond his appearance on television, Murphy was known for his deep affection for cats. His family noted, “He always made an effort to adopt cats and give them loving homes,” adding that he frequently adopted from the Animal Foundation of Las Vegas.
In their statement, his family said, “David will be greatly missed by his family, friends and fans” and requested privacy during this difficult time. They also encouraged those who wish to honor his memory to make donations to The Animal Foundation in his name.
David Murphy is survived by his two sisters and his beloved cat, Gamera.
