Jax Taylor opens about 20 years of cocaine dependence, rehabilitation and its sobriety trip

Jax Taylor has become real of his difficulties with drug addiction, revealing that he has struggled against the abuse of cocaine for more than two decades.

During the March 4 episode of Alex Baskin Hot MIC PodcastTHE Vanderpump rules Alum, 45, admitted for the first time that he was drug addict, reflecting on his drug addiction, at his rock time and his commitment to recovery.

Jax Taylor admits having difficulty with cocaine dependence for 20 years

“I am a drug addict,” said.

“I have substance problems – mainly with cocaine. It is difficult to say aloud, ”he admitted. “I have been facing this since the age of 23, and now I am 45 years old. There were times when I stopped doing it, but there were times when I went booming over it. ”

“I’m proud to say that I’m sober 83 days right now, which is the longest I have ever gone to my life without either.”

Jax reflects on the dark side of drug use

During the interview, Jax opened the brutal effects of its dependence.

“The next day is the worst. You feel like absolute garbage. You feel at the bottom of the barrel, ”he admitted. “You have no serotonin. You are just angry and depressed. Anyone who has done cocaine will tell you the next day is brutal. This is weird why we do it for two hours of pleasure, then the next 48 hours are miserable. »»

Jax Taylor says divorce has increased his dependence

Jax revealed that his divorce of Brittany Cartwright has made its dependence even further.

“This year has probably been the most difficult year of my life,” he said. “I am divorced at the moment, which is extremely difficult. When Brittany And I separated in 2024, it was at this point that dependence has worsened. »»

“I have been doing it for a long time, but it has won during my divorce and my separation. I literally lost control. I touched the bottom and I had to go to a detoxification treatment. »»

Jax Taylor talks about rehabilitation and his breakdown

Jax revealed that he had recorded twice as a detoxification treatment before becoming sober.

“It did not happen the first time. It happened the second time, ”he admitted. “The first time, I put a little fight. The second time, I knew I had to go back.

His awakening came when he had an animated fight with Brittany While their son Cruz was on the back seat.

“The worst of all this – and that is why I registered myself – is that my son was in the rear seat,” he shared.

“This is where I knew that I had a problem and it’s still there.”

Jax explained that after his first rehabilitation stay, he remained sober for a week or two, but his second stay was different.

“This time, I was really ready to change,” he said.

Jax Taylor reveals the bipolar diagnosis

Jax He was also referred to his mental health difficulties, revealing that he was diagnosed with a bipolar disorder and an SSPT in 2024 after checking the treatment.

“When my wedding became really bad around the past three years, Brittany was like,” you have to get help, “he recalls.

He initially brushed it, diagnoses as depressed and obtaining prescribed drugs without an appropriate assessment.

After taking Lexapro, he realized that it did not help – that only aggravated his anger problems.

Jax says he is focused on the sobriety of his son

Jax is determined to stay on the right track for his son, Cruz, 3 years old.

“”[I am focused on] One day at a time. The great thing here is my son. It is my motivation and it is my number one motivation for that, ” Jax said.

“I was going to lose guard. I embarked on my ex-wife and embarrassed me. No one took me seriously.

Although Jax is attached to his sobriety, he admits that his relationship with Brittany remains difficult.

“We had a little blowing last night. It’s daily. This changes, “he said. “One day she is happy, one day, she is crazy. I never know what I’m going to get with her.

Despite their ups and downs, Jax moved to only a mile to stay near Brittany and Cruz.

“I always wanted to be there for her. Even if and when she starts going out together, I will always be there, “he said.

Jax has built a new routine to remain responsible.

“I go to therapy once a week-I should probably go more,” he shared. “I am tested by drugs every week, and that’s something I chose to do. I need to be held responsible.

While Jax said he is fully sober of drugs and alcohol, he admits having consumed marijuana to help him sleep, calling himself “sober California”.

“I still smoke a little grass. I prefer this to pills, “he said.
