In Buffy The Vampire SlayerOur holder hero and his courageous team from Allies have an adorable nickname: The Scooby Gang. In the universe, it was Xander who first gave his group of friends a nickname that would follow them at the end of the series. He did it in the episode of season 2 “What is my line?” The first part “, but what most fans do not realize is that Joss Whedon and the producers of the show had built this nickname through a constant flow of Easter eggs earlier in the show.
Buffy scooby gang clues
What types of first Buffy The Easter eggs suggested that our hero and his crew would be called the Gang Scooby? In the episode of season 1 “Never Kill has the first meeting”, we see that Willow swings Scooby-doo lunch box. This establishes the friendly geek as a fan of the classic cartoon, which explains why she carries a scooby-doo t-shirt in the episode of season 1 “Out of Mind, Out of Sight”, and the episode of season 2 “School Hard”.
And Willow is not the only member of the Gang Scooby to wear an official Hanna Barbera cartoon merchant. Xander also wears a scooby-doo shirt in the episode of season 2 “When She was bad” and the episode of season 1 “Out of Mind, Out of Sight”. This last episode also includes a memorable moment when Xander emulates the character of Shaggy Scooby with the line, “can you say” Gulp? “”
In other words, Xander’s love for everything related to Scooby is proven very early in the series. It is therefore not surprising that he is the character of Buffy who first gives his group of friends the nickname “The Scooby Gang” in “What is my line? First part. Although it was easy to miss, the show spent about a season and a half giving us very direct references to Scooby and his friends before Xander officially drops his catchy group name.
Once Buffy and his friends have had this nickname, the screenwriters of the show never wasted the opportunity to mention the Gang Scooby by name in assorted episodes. Interestingly, some characters put variations on the name … For example, Xander and Faith both used the term prefers “scooby gang”. However, Willow strangely uses the term “scooby body” in the episode “The I in Team”, and Spike uses the term “scooby club” in “This year of this year”.
For Buffy Fans who loved the term “scooby gang”, things became Meta in 2002. It was the year that was Buffy actor Sarah Michelle Gellar appeared as Daphne in live action Scooby-doo Film, a role she took over in her 2004 sequel. Just like that, a killer who followed a nickname borrowed from a cartoon ended up giving life to this cartoon as we have never seen before.
You have it, people: the Buffy The crew is nicknamed the Gang Scooby was not just a sudden creative decision of Joss Whedon or his replacement in the universe, Xander. Instead, the nickname was a culmination of several pop culture references to the favorite members of everyone from Mystery, Inc. and although Buffy The Vampire Slayer is a show where the monsters are very real, characters like the director Snyder and the mayor Wilkins soon teach the character title the main lesson of Scooby-Doo: sometimes the real monsters are simply humans shaded with path Too much to hide.
