Ask someone to name the most popular action shows of the 80s, and there is a good chance that you hear Miami vice,, A-team,, Knight Cavalier,, Magnum Pi., And maybe even The autumn guy Before remembering one of the most popular shows of the decade: Airline. Even if you have never seen a single episode of the Helicopter Action series, you know exactly what it is. Now, thanks to the Roku channel, you can watch the whole series and achieve both how the dark and revolutionary season 1 was and how fast all the production collapsed.

Airwolf is of pure impression of the 80s

The real star of Airline

Airline Stars Jan-Michael Vincent as the equally incredibly named Stringfellow Hawke, a military trial pilot who, through a series of double crosses, finds himself in possession of the experimental stealth helicopter with each government and dark organization for its head. Season 1 presents Hawke who works for and against, the company, an obviously evil organization which happens to be the least of many ailments, in a series of missions which reflect the flash points of the real world of the Cold War. It is dark, Hawke is forced to make decisions unanswered, and the concentration of episodes on the geopolitical drama gives him more important issues that you expect from a program on a super helicopter.

Season 1 was, retrospective, the highest point of Airlinewith the following two seasons which are devoted to a hokey action more in line with Knight Cavalier than a novel by Tom Clancy. This and Ernest Borgnine, who played the friend and funder of Hawke, Dominic Santini, was struck off in the series in one of the most dramatic ways possible, by killing his character to the point where he made no doubt that he would not come back. In addition, the incredible fights of air dogs were significantly shorter and less cinematographic, but in the defense of the series, when this theme song comes into play and that Strunger Hawke wins the deadly missile, it is as great the 20th time as the first time.

Airwolf was a night before and a night failure

Ernest Borgnine and Jan-Michael Vincent Airline

While the series exploded in popularity, Jan-Michael Vincent, who was already a winner of Golden Globe several times, found himself, almost overnight, the best paid star on television. CBS knew that without him, there was no show. Haunted by personal demons encouraged by the sudden manna, Vincent’s alcoholism made it impossible to work with, and in a rare decision, the whole show was canceled, then sold in the United States for a complete and top to bottom removal with a brand new cast.

This is why most fans of Airline Pretend that the series ended when Jan-Michael Vincent left. The United States has not even obtained the real helicopter in the sale, forcing the last series of episodes to rely on old images, or, in some hilarious cases, the replica of the toy fills. And yet, although the show collapsed behind the scenes, there is no greater example of the 80s.

Airline The combined paranoia of the Cold War, the Hokey action, an explosive synth score and a charismatic head man in the perfect package of the 80s who could never be reproduced. Other programs have been tried, including Falcon (Airline With a motorcycle), but they all crushed and burned. Miami vice And The team A were redone for the big screen, but no one dared to bring back Stringer Hawke and his experimental plane.

Airline is now streaming on the Roku channel, but be sure to eject before season 4.
