Each longtime franchise will have some stumbling up here and there, although Stargate has fewer stumbling up than other 30-year science fiction franchises. He has one who is so disappointing, that is not part of the barrel. No, it’s not Stargate universe or one of the direct DVD films, they followed in the footsteps of Stargate SG-1to mixed results, but they tried. Stargate Infinity, On the other hand, there is a cartoon for children that has been made without any of the creators of the franchise, stars, production teams or even involved studios, making it the strangest and least successful part of the favorite franchise for fans.

Infinitely and beyond

Stargate Infinity

30 years in the future, Stargate Infinity clearly indicates from the start, it is a show for children, not fans, by failing a group of adolescents away from the earth. Until they find the evidence to prove that their mentor, the former SGC officer, Gus Bonner, did not send men under his command in an ambush, they are on the run and investigating other worlds, meeting strange cultures and developing the public at the same time. The well -intentioned message of the series was delivered with all the grace and subtlety of a hammer, and if the concept of the show seems far from being deleted from Stargate SG-1This is because no one in production was watching the series.

No episode underlines the disconnection between Stargate Infinity and the rest of the franchise like episode 7, “Phobia”, when Stacey, one of the teenagers, beats a spider stranger Before learning, they are not only sensitive, but a species that loves peace which then puts it in trial for aggression. The lesson on prejudices is so subtle that you may have missed it. Similar intrigues involving blocked children meeting with new cultures that turn out not to be what they thought according to appearances take place again and again, but it was by design, and ultimately, by law.

Legally mandated edustainment

The studio behind Stargate InfinityDIC, was well known for its animated production, and the production team was veterans of other shows, of which X-Men ’92 And Exo SquadTwo darker shows for older children they thought they were imitating for the Stargate franchise. The conspiracies, the rhythms of history and the characters were approved by a children’s psychologist to ensure that they were considered educational under the revised law on children’s television from 1997. Fans of the franchise hoping for an animated version of the program they loved were deeply disappointed, but even if the production team had a free binding, it would have been a strange blow for the franchise.

In subsequent interviews, the writers and producers admitted that no one had seen the whole race Stargate SG-1 Until 2000, when Stargate Infinity entered production. They were told intrigue for Stargate AtlantisWith the strict rule to stay away from them, and assembled, it was like making a series of a hand behind your back while being blindfolded. The world of today of shared universes and franchises designed to include shows for adults and children from the start means that nothing that will never happen again.

According to the standards of an animated adventure in the early 2000s, Stargate Infinity is not bad, but like the first spin-off of Stargate SG-1What he was technically even if it had nothing to do with the show was disappointing. On his credit, thanks to the nature of animation, fans were finally able to see extraterrestrial planets which seemed really foreign and not like the planet Vancouver. An adult animated series taking place in the world of Stargate could be spectacular, but with the franchise on the ice, it will never happen, so for the moment, fans can go back and look at teenage lessons when they wonder what we missed.

Stargate Infinity is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
