All the great vampire films have blood spots left by the big gender entrances in the past, and “sinners” is not different. He carries the lively tooth tension of “30 days at night” and “from Dusk Till Dawn”, with the director Ryan Coogler also bringing a dose of welcome of originality with his entry of ear infestation. Which is perhaps the greatest and almost sweet and bitter surprise about “sinners”, however, it is in its main vampire antagonist, Remimick, played by Jack O’Connell disorder.

First, there is nothing wrong with emphasizing in the performance of O’Connell. In fact, we dare to say that there is not enough of this gatecrasher to the full teeth who swings in the new juke joint of Smoke and Stack (Michael B. Jordan). However, deep fans of the marty variety could find Remimick tactics that strongly recall a literary vampiric villain by the name of Ben Cortman. Vampire of a different period and a more scientific origin, Ben is the foil of Robert Neville, the only protagonist of the beloved Horror Classic by Richard Matheson, “I am Legend”. The news has been adapted to the screen a few times, but the best known film (and the only one to share a title with the source equipment) is “I am Legend” from 2007, with Will Smith. Unlike the vampires of the original novel, the monsters of this film are wild and voiceless, so there is no Ben Cortman.

“Sinners” highlights this missed opportunity. With each intelligent tactic and each charming persuasion that Remimick uses to try the twins of chimneys and their friends out of the juke joint, he highlights what was missing in the 2007 film. Fortunately, it is something that could be explored in the planned suite “I am legend”.
Remmick is I am Ben Cortman of the legend of another time
Directed by Francis Lawrence, “I Am Legend” from 2007 saw Will Smith as the last human who left for Manhattan after the start of a mutant virus. The interesting choice (and wasted) to transform the vampires of Self-Aware, organized from Matheson into primitive “dark” “remains one of the most important defects of the film. The sensitivity and intelligence of creatures at the door of Neville each time that the sun set adds to the psychological torture that our hero is forced to endure in the new original of Matheson. Mainly orchestrated by the vampire of the head – and the former neighbor of Robert – Ben Cortman.

In the book, Cortman stands in front of the house of the last living inhabitant of Gardena, California, with a simple request night after night: “Get out, Neville.” This is a suggestion that is all the more tempting since the herds of naked women strike obscene on his lawn to show Robert Neville exactly what is missing.
A similar range of tactics is applied by Remimick – which, as hideous and manipulative it could be, is just another lost soul that tries to make a place in a country that is anything but free. Each conversation he has through the threshold of the articulation of Juke is not of terror but of temptation, while he tries to influence the smoke and the other survivors to join his root outside. When the words fail, they try music, singing the chorus of “go, Lassie goes?” And dancing an almost euphoric size to “The Rocky Road to Dublin”. It is a glimpse of a life beyond death that humanizes these monsters in a way that “I am legend” did not do it.

Michael B. Jordan could bring sin of sinners to I am Legend 2
You hope that after an outing as impressive as characters on both sides of a vampire attack, Michael B. Jordan signed up in a suite in development “I am Legend” because he saw a similar potential in his history. Currently, all that the return star Will Smith has confirmed is that The character of Michael B. Jordan is “the head of a new colony”. It would be interesting that, after the 18 -year -old time gap, the Darkseekers have somehow evolved and more like Matheson’s original creation, and Jordan’s character is one of them. The suite already refines the story that the first film is mapped for the best By flowing from the alternative end; Why not do the same with CGI creatures, which are now like PlayStation 2 Game Bosses in comparison?

Admittedly, if “I Am Legend 2” takes this route, it will undoubtedly be compared to the brilliantly moderate horror that Jordan delivered in “Sinners”, but isn’t that a good thing? Like creatures that afflict the film, “Sinners” is the offspring of what before. The Bloodline of Vampire Films has already been reinforced by the excellent addition of Ryan Coogler, featuring two Michael B. Jordans and a soundtrack that we do not expect to leave our heads for a very long time. If Jordan brings ingredients to “sinners” to “I am legend 2”, this can only be good.
“Sinners” now plays in theaters.
