Major spoilers follow.
The last moments of the life of Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) were easier to watch for some, simply because he had been burnt down in the spirits of the fans “The Last of Us” since 2020. This pivotic scene in which Abby (played by Kaitlyn Dever) Finally makes his revenge on the killer of his father played almost identical to the way in which he was initially shown in “The Last of Us Part II”, transforming this new character into someone to hate more than Each type of infected Run ranged. A key element that differs from what we have seen this week, however, is who is present during Joel’s death.

With Dina (Isabela Merced) to the cold after being injected with an anesthesia, the only person who remains to be seen Joel reject this mortal coil was Ellie de Bella Ramsey. It is a tortuous scene, not only because of the journey that we were with these two characters, but the tension that has apparently been built between them for reasons that we do not yet know. What distinguishes him from the game sequence, however, is that Joel’s brother, Tommy (Gabriel Luna), is not present.
In “The Last of Us Part II”, Abby is rescued by the two thousandrs and directed towards the cabin where the rest of the team of the old Firefly holds. Before realizing that they entered a trap, Joel takes one in the knee, and Tommy is beaten unconscious, leaving the fate of his sealed big brother. So why change, and what could it mean for the rest of season 2 in the future?

Tommy dealing with Jacksonville’s attack kept fans on their guard
While Joel took him as a champion in the episode of this week “The Last of Us”, Tommy had his own problems to manage an invasion of the tear infected by Jacksonville. The division of the drama on two locations and the creation of tension in very different ways have left well-paid fans and uninitiated on an equal footing. Move Tommy from one location tense to another dupy audience, thinking that we could lose not only a brother Miller, but both at the same time. Giving us the tragedy twice could have been a little too much, in particular given the Major difference in history of Tommy being a father in this version. Even so, it would not be an impossibility.

It is the carefully placed changes that could benefit from the show, deviating in a small but impactful way, unlike the wider companies of the beaten track that season 1 had, simply because season 2 does not have time to do it. This is the story of Ellie that we are racing now, and it is much more rationalized than the trip she made with Joel the last time. There is no time to create all unforgiving new leaders like Kathleen of Melanie Lynskey or widen condemned novels involving Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett), this season seems also to be focused on Ellie’s mission as it is. It is now just a question of how Tommy’s share will be different given the pivotal moment, he was absent from that time.

Will Tommy be more involved in Ellie’s mission for the last season 2?
Tommy with the action in Jacksonville rather than out of action in the cabin, this raises the question of how recent events will have an impact on the remaining brother of Miller. In the game, Tommy is pushed to avenge the death of his brother after being present for that (although not entirely), but not as much as Ellie. He contributes to her preparation for the path of war that she set up for Abby and is only involved in things closer to the end of “The Last of Us Part II”.

However, in the show, it would be understandable to guess if Tommy finds himself with a heavier weight of guilt in this iteration than in the original version. Is there the chance that Joel’s younger brother is haunted by what IF, wondering if he could have made a difference when Abby turned out and did what he was told in Joel to “continue?” Could this be what pushes him to be more present for the company approaching Ellie in front of the doors of Jacksonville and hunting abroad which took a golf club in their world? For the moment, all we can do is wait to see how Tommy, Ellie and the rest of our heroes pick up the pieces of recent events and if they use them as a fortune shiv on anyone on their way when “The Last of Us” continues next week.
