President Donald Trump announced that he and First lady Melania Trump Can’t wait to participate Pope Francis‘ funeral.
“Melania and I are going to the funeral of Pope Francis, in Rome,” wrote the president, 78 years old via social truth Monday, April 21. “We can’t wait to be there!”
A few hours before confirming his participation in the commemorative services, Donald paid tribute to the deceased Pope.
“Rest in peace Pope Francis!” May God bless him as well as all those who loved him! ” He wrote via social truth.
Pope Francis, who has been the head of the Catholic Church since 2013, Died Monday at 88 years old.
“Pope Francis died on Monday April 21, 2025 Easter at the age of 88 at his residence in Casa Santa Marta of the Vatican,” the Vatican announced on Monday via social media.
Cardinal Kevin Farrell also published a declaration on the death of the religious figure.
“Dear brothers and sisters, with deep sadness, I must announce the death of our Saint-Father Francis. At 7:35 am this morning, the bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the father’s house. Farrell continued: “With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we congratulate the soul of Pope Francis in the infinite merciful love of the Trinitarian God.”
The Pope’s death occurred a few hours after his appearance on the Balcony of the Saint-Pierre Basilica on Sunday, April 20, to wish the crowd to come together in the historic Italian monument a happy Easter. Later Monday, the New York Times reported that Pope Francis’ cause of death was a cerebral stroke, followed by a coma and “irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse”.
Before his death, Pope Francis was hospitalized for bronchitis in February. After being admitted to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, the Pope began to receive care for a double pneumonia.
The details of the commemorative service of Pope Francis have not yet been revealed.
