Following the first wildfire in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Southern California, several large hotels not affected by the fire were sold out.

THE Daily Mail reported that most of the hotel guests were among the more than 30,000 people forced to evacuate their homes due to the devastating fire.

Some of the hotels sold include the Beverly Hills Hotel, Four Seasons Beverly Hills, Peninsula Hotel and Waldorf Astoria.

Even though rates can reach $700 per night, this does not appear to have been an obstacle for these very wealthy people, whose homes and properties would have been affected by the disaster.

According to a source who was among those evacuated to one of these hotels, rooms sold out so quickly that people staying there were almost unable to get the high-end accommodations they were looking for.

“I evacuated early and immediately called the Hilton. They had about 2 rooms left. I feel lucky to be able to get in,” said Lisa Ann, owner of a $7 million home in Palisades.

She added: “They sold out so fast that as soon as people started smelling the smoke, they went to Hotels.com.”

Since the influx of guests, the hotel has become quite chaotic, with people and animals everywhere.

“There are people everywhere carrying their Gucci luggage and animals, dogs and cats too. I saw a parrot in a cage. It’s a madhouse,” the resident of long-time Palisades.

The trauma caused by the wildfires has reportedly led some of these affected millionaires to begin looking for housing elsewhere, outside of California.

“Someone was already looking for a new house on Realtor.com and said they were going to Utah or Oregon. Everyone is shaken. They want to leave California,” Ann said.

She also claimed that “the stress is extremely high” for everyone involved, which has led many to drown themselves in alcohol as a coping mechanism.

“I mean, what else are you going to do? People order vodka on the rocks, hold the soda. I saw a woman crying while on the phone, mascara everywhere” , added Ann.

While it is now clear that the Pacific Palisades fire is the worst to ever hit California, its exact cause remains unclear.

Reports claimed that the inferno could have been caused by New Year revelers who used fireworks during the festive celebration.

According to the evidence reviewed by The Washington PostFirefighters were dispatched to the Pacific Palisades shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day in response to a small brush fire that residents said was caused by fireworks.

Although the flames were extinguished at that time, it is now assumed that there was a resurgence, as satellite images of the burn scar from the previous fire overlapped with the smoke origin of the fire of the Palisades.
